This Special Notice is an actual printed notice to clerks from the inside lid of a thread box from M.Hemingway & Sons,
based in Watertown, CT. It is a box for “art needlework wash silks” and would have been used to display the silks in a
shop. I find it completely fascinating and a bit humorous-we need to follow the same advice today when choosing our supplies. Some things never change.
Fabric and floss selection is completely up to you! My model is stitched on 32 count linen from my stash; I used roughly eight (8 yards) of floss, so in most cases you will need two skeins, depending on your personal preference and stitching style
